Fortress Muiden : Amsterdam Gate, before 1905.
The gate was the entrance to the fortress Muiden from Amsterdam / Weesp. It was not more than a
coupure in the fortress wall and a bridge with barrier.
This part of the fortress was already abolished as a fortification in 1929, whereafter the wall was partly built over with houses and partly
transformed into a park. The bridge was replaced with a wider drawbridge.
