Fortress Naarden : Envelope with the Bussum Exit, before 1903.
Here the bridge with barrier over the outer moat with the Bussum Exit and bridgekeeper's house. This bridge was the connection between the envelope with covered way and the road to Bussum and the trainstation. This part of the envelope is in front of Bastion Turfpoort. With the opening of the Burgemeester van Wettumweg in 1939 this connection lost its importance. Already in 1939 this bridge was transfered to the Dienst der Domeinen, and in the beginning of the Second World War the bridge was demolished. The old road from Bussum (Thierensweg) is now a dead end at the outer moat. The Bussum Exit is still recognizable as a coupure in the wall.
